A total of 19 universities from the Czech Republic participated in the largest academic mission to Asia in history. CTU was represented at this event by Vice-Rector Radek Holý and Jiří Jakovenko from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science CTU. During the two-week trip, they visited Taiwan and Japan, where we established new partnerships, strengthened the exchange of students and academics, and opened the doors to unique research projects.

The trip culminated in participation in the prestigious EDU Day as part of preparations for the EXPO 2025 world exhibition in Osaka. The event also included a meeting between university representatives and the President of the Czech Republic, Petr Pavel.

In Taipei, negotiations were held with leading universities – National Taiwan University, National Chengchi University, and Taiwan Tech. Not only were student exchange opportunities discussed, but also joint projects in the field of sustainable energy, advanced membrane technologies, and industrial innovations. Vice-Rector Radek Holý also took home an extraordinary award from Taiwan – the title of honorary professor for his contribution to connecting the academic and industrial environment.

In Japan, the delegation headed to Kansai University. Here, they discussed in particular the possibilities of facilitating study stays for Czech students, starting with language preparation and ending with integration into the local academic community. Another topic of discussion was the organization of summer schools, which take place in Japan on different dates than in our country.

At EDU Day, organized on the occasion of preparations for EXPO 2025, CTU, together with other Czech universities, presented itself as a modern, open and technologically advanced institution.
