"In the digital world, numbers do not only play a quantitative role, but also a symbolic one. The number sixteen represents one of the key building blocks of the digital world and forms a system that is ubiquitous in computing: from colour codes to memory addressing to machine instructions. That is why we decided to treat the 16th anniversary of the Faculty as a symbolic celebration of our professional identity and technological maturity," mentions assoc. RNDr. Ing. Marcel Jiřina, Ph.D., Dean of FIT CTU.
Today the Faculty has 6 departments, 21 modern laboratories, 13 research groups, which currently implement 179 research projects. Unique is also the Programme of Cooperation with Industry, which involves 53 corporate partners. They participate in teaching, conduct theses and collaborate on research and innovation projects. Twice a year, the faculty organises the COFIT career fair, and as students progress through their studies, they become increasingly involved in practice. The result is almost 100% employment of graduates.
"Sixteen years is a relatively short time in the world of education, but during this time FIT CTU has managed to build a dynamic and innovative environment that attracts thousands of young people interested in information technology every year. This anniversary is not only an opportunity to look back at the road we have travelled together, but also a moment to reflect on the future we are helping to shape together with our colleagues and students. I am pleased that we are succeeding in linking academic education with practice and that our graduates are finding employment both in top companies and in the research sphere. Personally, I am very appreciative of the fact that I had the honour to award colleagues who have made a significant contribution to the development of the faculty with the FIT Medals and the Dean's Award for Merit for the Development of the Faculty," says assoc. Marcel Jiřina, Dean of FIT CTU.
On the occasion of the celebration, the Dean of the Faculty, assoc. RNDr. Ing. Marcel Jiřina, 38 distinguished personalities from the ranks of academics, administrative staff, including the collective of former students of the University, which played a key role in the establishment of the new faculty. Sixteen personalities received the FIT Medal and twenty-two were awarded the Dean's Award for Merit for the development of the Faculty.
Many challenges await FIT CTU in the future, but the faculty is ready to continue on its path - to be a synonym of quality, innovation and technological excellence. Informatics is the world, that combines creativity with logic, and FIT CTU wants to be there when the future is being created.
