The campaign, which aims to raise awareness of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) and promote sustainable disposal and recycling practices, was met with great enthusiasm from students. Through interactive lectures and engaging discussions, the initiative helped students understand the importance of responsible e-waste management and the role they can play in minimising their environmental impact.
We visited these specific schools: Libice nad Cidlinou Primary School, Horoměřice Primary School, Kladno Velvarská Primary School and Kindergarten, III. Elementary School Kolín, II. Elementary School Rakovník, 4th Elementary School Nerudova Říčany, Elementary School Olešská Praha 10, The Jan Kubelík Elementary School Neveklov, The Jan Werich Elementary School Řepy, The Jakub Jan Ryba Elementary School Rožmitál pod Třemšínem.
The pupils were very engaged and demonstrated considerable knowledge of the topic. Their active participation and insightful questions show a promising awareness of sustainability and circular economy principles.
The Circular WEEEP project aims to educate the public, especially young individuals, about the importance of reducing, reusing and recycling e-waste. As e-waste is one of the fastest growing waste streams worldwide, initiatives like this play a key role in promoting environmental responsibility in future generations.
The campaign continues and more school visits and awareness-raising activities are planned. The organisers are optimistic that by encouraging discussions at an early stage they can help shape a more sustainable future where e-waste is properly managed and recycled.
The Circular WEEEP project is supported by the Interreg Central Europe programme funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and co-financed by the participants.
