After the success of last year's event, the Project Day at CTU is becoming a tradition. The faculties of CTU in cooperation with the Prague 6 Local Action Plan (MAP 6) and the Prague 6 district once again welcomed hundreds of students who experienced the fascinating world of technical fields first-hand.

The aim of the Project Day is to introduce the young generation to technology, architecture and engineering through hands-on experiences. "It is important that pupils can see and experience for themselves what the technical fields have to offer. This day can help them make better decisions about the future direction of their education and career," says Vojtěch Petráček, Rector of CTU.

The programme offered unique experiences:

Faculty of Biomedical Engineering: tour of the faculty ambulance car, simulated ICU workplace with artificial patient, contact lens laboratory, artificial lung ventilation and bioelectromagnetism, unique classroom for teaching safety professionals, experiments in the biochemistry laboratory.

Faculty of Transportation Sciences: aircraft simulators, air traffic control, truck and rail traffic simulation. Students also presented the CTU Lions road racing motorcycles.

Faculty of Architecture: a project day focused on exploring architecture, landscape and design, a guided tour of the faculty building and a handicraft workshop.

Faculty of Electrical Engineering: Tour of the echoless acoustic chamber, visit to the eForce workshop with an autonomous electric formula car, multimedia technology in the AV studio.

Faculty of Mechanical Engineering: meeting with CTU Space Research team, laboratory experiments with Eye tracking, SCADA control room, 3D printing and reverse engineering technologies.

Faculty of Civil Engineering: experiments with water in the Water Management Experimental Centre, visit to the architecture studio and excursion to the building materials laboratories.

"We want to show children that technology is not just about formulas and theory, but also about practice, creativity and adventure. We believe that this day will be a motivation for our pupils and will direct many of them to study technical fields," adds Mariana Čapková, Deputy Mayor of the Prague 6 district.

The project day is co-financed by the J.A. Komenský programme of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports and the European Union. (Source: press release of Prague 6)
