A one-day hands-on Real-World Evidence "Data Heals" seminary was held at the end of January. The annual seminary focused on practical implementation and implementation considerations in the processing and analysis of big healthcare data for routine improvement of healthcare quality and efficiency.

The event was organized by CTU Faculty of Biomedical Engineering and the Institute of Health Information and Statistics of the Czech Republic. Their representatives, Prof. Jozef Rosina, Dean of FBMI and Prof. Ladislav Dušek, Director of the Institute of Statistical and Medical Informatics, signed the cooperation agreement in the opening session. The following seminary was moderated by doc. Aleš Tichopád from the CzechHTA group of the Department of Biomedical Technology.

The morning session was devoted to practical demonstrations of Real-World Evidence (RWE) analyses, with examples from clinical practice and retrospective data. Seminary participants had the opportunity to discuss methodological approaches and challenges associated with imperfect and often highly heterogeneous large health data. The programme included thematic sessions on good practice in data preparation and analysis, including the use of machine learning, data standardisation and anonymisation of health data. The afternoon session focused on the development of routine analytical procedures and their effective translation into the practice of healthcare institutions. The discussion panel then provided a space for sharing experiences in monitoring the implementation of health indicators and process changes.

The aim of the seminary was to promote collaboration between academic and application partners and to contribute to improving the quality of healthcare based on the use of data. Our faculty has the ambition to become an important partner of government institutions in the process of developing tools for better decision making in healthcare.
