AdvaMat Coatings uses advanced physical vapor deposition (PVD) coatings that completely eliminate the need to lubricate glass moulds with oils, for example in the production of beverage bottles. The coatings, which are ultra-thin nano-layers deposited on the surface, fundamentally change the properties of the product and allow for greater durability and efficiency. This change simplifies and cheapens the production process, significantly extends the life of the moulds and reduces the environmental footprint.
"AdvaMat Coatings builds on more than ten years of research and development, the results of which we now bring directly to industrial partners," explains CTU professor and AdvaMat founder Tomáš Polcar. "Today, we see that the pressure for environmentally friendly solutions is making companies more open to change, which allows us to promote modern technologies more effectively. Our goal is to become a leader in surface treatments that combine top performance with eco-friendly approaches," he adds.
Ing. Martin Daněk adds: "Thanks to the support of the technology transfer team, we were able to focus all our efforts on the preparation of our products and business strategy. Our goal is to become a leader in surface treatments that meet not only high technical but also environmental requirements."
AdvaMat Coatings s.r.o. has already established strategic partnerships with industry players in the automotive, energy and aerospace industries. With its innovative technologies, it plans to expand into international markets and set new standards in the field of industrial coatings. This example shows that effective collaboration between university teams and scientists with a business approach can deliver not only quick but also successful results in the long term.
CTU support as the key to success
The rapid creation of AdvaMat Coatings - in less than 30 days - would not have been possible without the support of the CTU Technology Transfer Department and the business vision of the company's founders Tomáš Polcar and Martin Daňek. This success demonstrates that combining scientific knowledge with effective management can fundamentally accelerate the path of innovation from the lab to the market.
"Our mission is to accelerate the transfer of innovations from academia to practice and to provide scientists with the conditions to fully devote themselves to their research and its application," says Jan Urban, Head of the Department for Technology Transfer and Fundraising at CTU.
