The largest event of its kind in the Czech Republic, was officially launched at the Rudolf Gallery at Prague Castle on Monday 7 October, the 9th annual Innovation Week

In addition to the Ambassador of the United States of America to the Czech Republic, Bijan Sabet, representatives of sponsors and other distinguished guests, the Rector of CTU in Prague Vojtěch Petráček greeted the participants. He mentioned that we must first of all innovate our thinking, procedures, strategies, methods of functioning of our management systems (state, universities and enterprises), our networking and information flows. Similarly, knowledge transfer today means much more than just moving patents or licenses from universities to companies. As Rector Petráček also said, times are different and we are today, moreover, transferring knowledge, methods, solution proposals, education across society, towards the state, towards the reskilling and upskilling of professionals, towards the creation of sound strategies for the state and industry, towards the support of our defence and security. "We at the universities, which form a significantly independent and credible island in society, are reflecting on all these aspects and want to contribute solutions that will be the rational basis for the state's actions, regardless of the political colouration of power," Petráček added.

Innovation Week will welcome leading representatives of the Czech Republic, representatives of top innovation companies, partners and startups. The programme includes conference panels, an innovation fair and inspirational seminars, around 150 speakers and around 5,000 visitors. On behalf of CTU, the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering will present its platform for monitoring the physical and mental state of workers in demanding professions at the innovation fair, while Jakub Mareček, a researcher at the Centre for Artificial Intelligence at Faculty of Electrical Engineering, and Jan Hejda from FBMI will speak during a panel discussion.
