Production of nuclear technologies and training of new specialists - this was the spirit of the visit of South Korean President Jun Sok-jool and Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala to Pilsen on Friday. They visited Doosan Škoda Power and Škoda JS company

The visit of the Korean delegation headed by President Jun Sok-jool and accompanied by the Czech Prime Minister was logical given that South Korea was the winner of the state tender for the completion of the nuclear power plant in Dukovany. The companies visited by the large group - Doosan Škoda Power and Škoda JS - are expected to be involved in the production of turbines and components for nuclear reactors.

Given the need to train new experts the rectors and vice-rectors of the three technical universities that already, or will do so in the future, train nuclear experts, were among the participants of the meeting and the tour of the facilities. CTU was represented by the Vice-Rector Radek Holý, the Rector of the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen (ZČU) Miroslav Lávička and the Dean of Faculty of Electrical Engineering Zdeněk Peroutka), and the Rector of the Brno University of Technology (BUT) Ladislav Janíček.

"The Faculty of Nuclear Sciences and Physical Engineering of CTU has been educating real leaders in the field for a long time, the quality of its education is at a very high level in international comparison. In fact, its graduates include Dana Drábová, who has been the chairwoman of the State Office for Nuclear Safety for 25 years," said Radek Holý, Vice-Rector of CTU. He also mentioned that CTU is the only university in the world that has both a fusion and a fission reactor.

Representatives of all three universities assured the Korean delegation that they are ready for the upcoming technological challenge and one of the largest state investments for the next decade.

The foreign ministers of both countries signed the Action Plan for the implementation of the Strategic Partnership for the years 2025-2027, and a number of memoranda of cooperation were signed, including between CTU, ZČU and BUT.

On the same day, CTU also signed three memorandums with the Koreans in Prague, we reported here.
