The Czech branch of the European Space Education Resource Office (ESERO) has been opened with great splendour in the presence of CTU Rector Vojtěch Petráček. Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala and Minister of Transportation Martin Kupka also attended the press conference on the "Czech journey to space".
ESERO's main goal is to use the inspirational nature of outer space to increase students' scientific and technical literacy and motivate them to study and pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
In addition to the guests mentioned above, the press conference has been attended by Maj. Aleš Svoboda, who succeeded in the European Space Agency (ESA) selection process for new astronauts and was selected along with ten others to the backup team. 22,000 candidates from 22 countries applied for the recruitment process.
The press conference is followed by short panel discussions.
