The 31st annual Olověný Dušan student competition has its winners. The jury evaluated the projects created at Faculty of Architecture in the winter semester. The best architectural project is Housing Libeň by Eliška Cibulková, the award was also given to Markéta Dvořáková and Petr Brancuský in the Design category. Císler-Pazder's studio scored among architectural studios, and Fišer-Nezpěváková in the category of design studios.

The competition is organised by the Architecture Students' Association with the aim of bringing an external perspective on teaching and reflection to teachers and students. This year's award ceremony took place on Thursday 7 March at CTU Faculty of Architecture. A new feature this year was the broadcast of the student radio raDuše, which presented the nominated projects through a live broadcast.

The winners were selected by juries of independent male and female creators. In the Architecture category, the judges were Tereza Rapsová, Jakub Mareš, Barbora Šimonová, Ivan Jarina and Anna Svobodová. The design jury consisted of Jakub Pollág, Markéta Kratochvílová and Ihor Sabadosh. "Nowadays, the range of approaches is so diverse that it is impossible to award only one student and declare that this is the right way. That's why this year we decided to award two prizes," says judge Jakub Pollág.

The best architectural project was Housing Libeň by Eliška Cibulková from the Kuzemenský studio. The design of the apartment complex provides open, comfortable and flexible living. "The appearance of the houses is not extravagant or in favour of the current architectural spirit of the time. However, it is honest, adequate, very balanced in composition and realistic in the Czech environment," said the jury member Anna Svobodová.

The award for the best architectural studio went to Císler-Pazder's studio, which worked on the assignment Košíre - 4 blocks, 10 plots in the winter semester. The jury appreciated the balanced ratio of the variability of the assignment, the quality of the work and the presented outputs."Each work has its own directional line based on a different, often bold and even experimental line."

Markéta Dvořáková from the Fišer-Nezpěváková studio won the award in the design category for her design of the Emotional Armor fashion collection, created in collaboration with AI. "The project brings a valuable reminder to the world of fashion that designing clothing is not only about the visual aspect, but also about functionality and the possibilities of use in the current context of the problems of modern times," jury member Markéta Kratochvílová wrote in her evaluation.

The second award-winning work in this category is a design of cast-iron Hi-Fi speakers by Petr Brancusky from Jaroš studio. The judges appreciated the detailed design and carefully documented process. "It is evident that Petr has a deep understanding of the manufacturing processes and that he has progressed to addressing complex details in his design, which clearly shows in the overall harmoniously finished project," the jury stated.

The award-winning design studio was Fišer-Nezpěváková with the assignment Artificial Intelligence & Design. "Excellent pedagogical guidance was evident throughout the projects, with students given the space to experiment, explore pathways and understand the different tools currently available to them. They were given the opportunity to first learn the process of working with AI and then use it to improve their project. The resulting projects in collaboration with AI had high representational and aesthetic qualities, and in many cases the AI collaboration raised the project to a significantly higher level," said Jakub Pollág on behalf of the jury.

The exhibition in the right atrium of CTU FA will run until 22 March. The nominated works can be viewed on the competition´s webpage and on the olovenydusan.cz website . Photos from the award ceremony can be viewed in the gallery From the Life of the FA.
