Deputy Prime Minister for Digitalization and Minister for Regional Development Ivan Bartoš and Director of Czech Institute of Informatics, Robotics and Cybernetics of CTU Ondřej Velek signed a Memorandum of Cooperation in the field of building construction development on 30 January 2023. This will be implemented in particular by National Centre for Construction 4.0, which operates at the Institute. The cooperation will contribute to the development of information technologies in the construction industry and their integration into practice. Deputy Prime Minister Ivan Bartoš also discussed with representatives of the building construction sector current issues in the industry.

The Memorandum, which formalises the start of active cooperation, responds, among other things, to the lack of discussion between actors in the construction sector: the state, companies and academia. The cooperation between  National Centre for Construction 4.0 (NCS 4.0) and Ministry for Regional Development of the Czech Republic will be implemented mainly through mutual consultations and exchange of information on important events.

During his visit to Czech Institute of Informatics, Robotics and Cybernetics (CIIRC) of CTU, Deputy Prime Minister Ivan Bartoš presented his vision for the digitalization of the construction industry, the shape of the new Building Code and the concept of affordable housing. The key implications of these topics for the construction industry were presented in the discussion.

"The digitisation of construction management and planning are absolutely key to speeding up the processes that take place within the building construction industry. Therefore, we will gradually launch individual services related to building permits during the course of this year, so that a complete digital workflow for construction procedures can be implemented in July 2024. The most important thing for citizens is the web-based Builder's Portal, which will be used for initial communication with the authorities and at the same time will be a source of data on, for example, the territory or construction sites," comments Deputy Prime Minister for Digitisation and Minister for Regional Development Ivan Bartoš.

"With Ministry of Regional Development of the Czech Republic, the National Centre for Construction 4.0 gains a strong partner with whom it will be able to consult and promote the necessary changes in a sector with such innovative potential as the construction industry," Dr. Ondřej Velek, Director of the Czech Institute of Informatics, Robotics and Cybernetics of CTU, welcomes the cooperation.

"Together with the ministry, we want to speed up and streamline the building permit process. The fragmentation of the construction industry in the field of digitisation is great, which leads to a lower level of information transfer. Mutual cooperation on the unification of the construction procedure is therefore crucial," said Radoslav Sovják, Director of NCS 4.0.

Deputy Prime Minister Bartoš's visit included a visit to the RICAIP Testbed for Industry 4.0. During this visit, there was also a discussion with the scientific director of the CIIRC CTU, Prof. Vladimír Mařík, and the chairman of the board of the National Centre for Industry 4.0, Jiří Kabelka, regarding the possibility of joining the excellent European infrastructure of testbeds for the usability of innovations and linking technology projects in the field of industry and building construction.
