User-friendliness on the level of Netflix or Amazon Prime characterizes the new app designed and implemented by Viktor Sinelnikov for the non-commercial television company Czech-American TV. The smart TV app by a recent graduate of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering (FEL) contributes to spreading awareness of the Czech Republic in the USA.

"I wanted to develop a non-profit software that would be useful and that people would use. I decided to go with CATVUSA because its activities and idea seemed the most interesting to me. Moreover, as a foreigner I wanted to deepen my knowledge of the Czech Republic and its culture," said the graduate of the Master's degree in Open Computer Science. Sinelnikov is of Ukrainian origin. Czech-American TV is ideal for these purposes - it offers a TV and Internet channel and three radio stations. Through the site, those interested in the Czech Republic can, for example, watch travel shows about Czech regions or read articles about Czech traditions, culture, monuments and museums.

According to Czech-American TV founder John Honner, the app is unique in that it is the only Android TV app that broadcasts information about the Czech Republic in English, and in terms of user-friendliness, it stands up to Netflix or Amazon Prime. "Thanks to Viktor Sinelnikov's software, we will be able to reach millions more viewers with content that promotes the Czech Republic. The app has already been released on Google Play and we plan to release it on the Amazon App Store as well," said John Honner. According to estimates, the AndroidTV system is currently installed in 110 million devices.

FEL graduate Viktor Sinelnikov received an award from John Honner for the development of the app. The award was also given to the Faculty of Electrical Engineering for long-term professional cooperation in the field of radio and television technology. The Dean Prof. Petr Páta received the award from John Honner.

"The collaboration with Czech-American TV is proof that our students can work on projects that impact millions of users during their studies. I am delighted that this is a non-profit project spreading the good name of Czech culture in the world and that it is the work of our graduate from Ukraine," commented Prof. Petr Páta, Dean of the faculty.
