Construction 4.0. introduces and optimises the synergy of digitalisation, automation and sustainable environmental behaviour into construction practice. It is a completely new way of thinking, planning, implementing and maintaining buildings, throughout their entire life cycle. It maps and minimises the impact of construction on the external environment and the footprint that these activities leave permanently in the surrounding nature. The establishment of the National Centre for Construction 4.0 is therefore an important step on the road to the technological future of the Czech Republic. Representatives of professional organisations, academia, government and industry agreed on this today at the Czech Technical University in Prague.

"Due to the heterogeneity of activities and the technological complexity of processes in the construction industry, the idea of digitising this sector seemed like an utopia. After initial tests, however, we eventually mastered the wet processes of joining building components on a 1:1 scale, and these activities have been capitalized on in recent months in the negotiations to create NCS 4.0. Today we know that it is realistic to create and connect technologies and processes that will bring the entire construction life cycle into the future, into CONSTRUCTION 4.0," says Doc. Radoslav Sovják, Director of the National Centre for Construction 4.0.

The National Centre for Construction 4.0 (NCS) will be located in the CTU-CIIRC building. At the moment, its working group is five members and in the short term the implementation team will grow together with the project activities and additional activities. The Centre will support direct and indirect participation in national and international projects that strengthen research, development and innovation interactions between academic and industrial partners.

Cooperation within the NCS will bring many benefits to the partners involved and will open up a wide range of possibilities for effective cooperation and technological upgrading, for example in R&D&I projects. Companies will also have closer access to various formats and subsidy opportunities within the Czech Republic and the European Union.

Other planned activities of the centre will include the organisation of conferences, practically oriented professional workshops, lectures, excursions on currently addressed issues. All members will have the opportunity to influence the development of topics related to Building 4.0 in the whole breadth of the Czech Republic. By choosing membership you can shape the future of Building 4.0 within the platform by serving on the Board of Directors, expert groups or the General Assembly of NCS 4.0.

The NCS will operate within the ecosystem of the National Centre for Industry 4.0. "Construction 4.0 will use and build on the practices and principles proven by Industry 4.0. During our time in business, we have built not only a brand, but above all a unique ecosystem and know-how that is naturally transferable to the construction industry. I am glad that the NCP4.0 ecosystem is expanding in this way and I look forward to working together and finding synergies with the National Centre for Construction 4.0," said Jaroslav Lískovec, Director of the National Centre for Industry 4.0.

As part of today's NCS kick-off ceremony, joining agreements were signed with 18 partners from cooperating companies and institutions. Among them are the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the BUT, Faculty of Civil Engineering of the VŠB-TUO, Faculty of Civil Engineering of the CTU in Prague, Foundation for the Development of Architecture and Construction, Association of Construction Entrepreneurs, Road and Motorway Directorate, HELUZ Brick Industry v.o.s, Leube Beton s.r.o., SUDOP Group a.s., ICE Industrial Services a.s., EIMAC, Metrostav a.s., Strabag a.s., AgentFly Technologies s.r.o., Hochtief CZ a.s., Baumit, spol. s r.o., VCES a.s., Techniserv, spol. s.r.o.
