Students of the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Kristýna Klůsová from "Architecture and Civil Engineering", Barbora Macková and Tadeáš Zahradník from "Project Management and Engineering" participated in the mixed Czech-American team that won the Associated Schools of Construction competition in the Design&Build category. Their project involved the design and construction of zero-carbon future homes loosely based on the Future Homes demonstrator standard. Competitors had to design an alternative carbon neutral solution using off-site construction.

In the Construction Management/Quantity Surveying category, Jan Sedláček and David Frič from Project Management and Engineering took the excellent third place as part of an international team competing against other UK and US teams. They worked on the preparation of a project to be implemented at St John's Hill in London. It is part of a three-phase regeneration project to increase the number of affordable homes and establish a new community center by 2022. The project preparation and implementation is complicated by its location near a busy railway line.

The Faculty of Civil Engineering of CTU is a member of the ASC - Associated Schools of Construction. This year, the Region 8 competition was hosted by Birmingham City University on 11-12 November 2021. As in previous years, students from the faculty formed teams with students from California Polytechnic State University. This technical university is the number one university in the "College Factual" ranking for undergraduate studies in Construction Management.

Due to the global pandemic situation, the competition was conducted in a combination of virtual/physical form.  Students from the UK participated personallyy, while students from the Faculty of Civil Engineering of CTU and American students participated via MS Teams.
