From 1 July 2021, the University Centre for Energy Efficient Buildings of CTU will be headed by Ing. Robert Jára, Ph.D., While Ing. Antonín Lupíšek, Ph.D. will head the research division. The outgoing director doc. Ing. Lukáš Ferkl, Ph.D., plans further cooperation with his current employer UCEEB in the start-up of the new spin-off company Envitrail.

Ing. Robert Jára, Ph.D., graduated in 2018 from the Department of Steel and Timber Structures at the Faculty of Civil Engineering (FSC), where he still works as an assistant professor with a focus on timber buildings. Since 2016, he has held the position of Deputy Head of the Research Department Materials and Structures of Buildings at UCEEB. He is professionally engaged in research in the field of design of wooden buildings and experimental analysis of building structural elements.

"The priority of the new UCEEB leadership is to expand interdisciplinary cooperation in the field of clean technology development both at CTU and at the national and international level. The main professional domains remain buildings, architecture, energy and indoor environmental quality. In the first year, the new management will focus on streamlining the implementation of cutting-edge research results into practice, developing the innovation potential of research teams and systematically supporting the professional and career growth of collaborators," says Ing. Robert Jára, Ph.D.  

The newly created position of Director for Science and Research will be held by Ing. Antonín Lupíšek, Ph.D., who graduated in Civil Engineering at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, where he received his Ph.D. in 2013. Between 2001 and 2005 he worked in industry as an expert consultant and researcher in the field of building physics, building energy and renewable energy. Since 2006, he has held various research and management positions at CTU. In 2013 he became an assistant professor at the Department of Civil Engineering Structures, Faculty of Civil Engineering. Since 2016, he has held the position of Head of the Architecture and Environment Research Department at UCEEB. He is engaged in interdisciplinary research in the field of sustainable development with a focus on energy and construction and participates in national and international research projects.

The outgoing director doc. Ing. Lukáš Ferkl, Ph.D., will continue to work at UCEEB until the end of this year. His main task will be to help launch a new spin-off company with the participation of the CTU, which will mainly deal with the evaluation of companies and products in terms of their environmental impact.
