Among this year's five winners of the Award of the Minister of Education, Youth and Sports for outstanding educational activities at the university is the theoretical physicist prof. RNDr. Petr Kulhánek, CSc., from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering.

Professor Kulhánek, who works at the Department of Physics, FEE, has created a comprehensive set of online courses dedicated to physics in an emergency, especially for the first years, which alone have over 60,000 views on the @CVUTFEL YouTube channel alone. At the same time, through the Aldebaran association, he promotes astrophysics and plasma physics not only among CTU students. He is the author of five university textbooks. For 19 years, he has been managing the online magazine Aldebaran, a newsletter with news from physics and technology, and organizes student visits to major research institutes worldwide.

In the last three years, his lectures and media appearances have become highly sought after. Tens of thousands of people interested in science and technology follow his popularization lectures. In the last year alone, more than 40 videos covering not only physics courses at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, but also its other lectures can be found on the FEE YouTube profile. It is almost impossible to capture all the lectures and television appearances; only on the soil of FEE he presented thousands of them during his work and only a fraction of them are recorded. He is one of the first to agree at FEE CTU with the recording of their lectures and their provision to the general public; In the last 5 years, FEE has launched 30 comprehensive courses, some of them are very suitable for high school students.

"This experience enabled prof. Kulhánek to provide broad support to students during remote education enforced by a pandemic. His approach during the distance study was key for the students of the first year of our faculty to the successful mastering of difficult material and adaptation to the demands of university studies. With regard to the number of views of his course Physics 1, it is obvious that his lectures are also followed by students of other faculties, "said Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering CTU prof. Petr Páta.

The aim of the award is to draw attention to the importance and significance of quality educational activities at universities, to appreciate the excellent work of university teachers, to highlight examples of good practice and significant innovations in the field of educational activities. Given the current challenges posed by the covid-19 pandemic facing higher education teachers, such as distance learning and distance validation of learning outcomes, the award also aimed to highlight examples of excellent management of these challenges.
