The pandemic did not stope the international student architectural competition INSPIRELI AWARDS as record of 1,336 students from 106 countries entered this year's fifth year. A total of 1305 projects competed in all categories. Due to the epidemiological measures, the award ceremony took place on Thursday, 5 November, through online stream from the Faculty of Civil Engineering, which, together with the Czech Technical University in Prague rectorate, is a co-organizer of the competition. Those interested could watch the ceremony on social networks.

Mariam Jacob and Nada Khalaf from the United Arab Emirates won in the Architecture category, in which 1,093 projects competed. The jury was captivated by their solution to the problem in Marrakesh, Morocco, where a large amount of organic waste is generated due to inefficient management and storage. The young architects designed the processing plant, the market place and the grocery hall.

In the Urban desing category, the team of six students from Bangladesh won first place. Tanvirul Hakim, Junaied Saif Rumman, Payel Sen Gupta, Shohanur Rahman Shojib, Jorzina Farah and Punam Das focused on the city of Chittagong, which is threatened by rising sea levels. The main goal of the project was to eliminate the threat of waterlogging of the Bangladeshi city and to bring back to life the urban backbone in the form of water canals.

Jani Toci from Albania won in the Interior Design category. In a project called "Soul in a Box", a young architect presented the interior of housing for artists in a building measuring 9x9x9 meters.

Students could also compete in special categories. As part of the design of a specific project in the INSPIRELI COMPETITION category, this year they focused on the design of the renovation of the amphitheater in Burkina Faso. Here, the task of the students was to design the reconstruction of the premises so that the whole theater would be restored to its fame and use. One of the decision criteria was the feasibility of the entire project. This category was taken by Martinez Cristian Fernando and Ariel Fernando Mendez from Argentina.

For the first time, high school students were also able to compete in the competition, alongside with university students in the INSPIRELI LUMION PRIZE category, in which the best 3D visualizations of student projects designed in LUMION software were evaluated. Six works won the award here, three of them from the Czech Republic, including a student Alice Šindelářová from the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the Czech Technical University in Prague.

The INSPIRELI & AUA RECOGNITION AWARDS by the African Union of Architects was also awarded to the most talented students on the African continent in the INSPIRELI AWARDS competition. The award went to Ibrahim François Pare and Tindamanègré Fabien César Koala from the State of Togo for the design of the amphitheater in Burkina Faso.
