The Prague Transport Company wants to buy 838 receivers. This will make the location of trams more precise. “As part of our roughly two-year cooperation, we provided DPP with a number of consultations regarding the properties and limits of satellite navigation in a complicated urban environment, in addition to the proximity of overhead lines. We have also participated in numerous practical tests of various receivers in conditions similar to the actual deployment, " Dr. Václav Navrátil commented on the role of FEE CTU in this project
The transport company plans to use Galileo to locate its fleet as one of the first urban public transport operators in Europe. The use of modern multi-constellation GNSS receivers will also bring benefits to passengers and residents, for example in the form of online monitoring of the position of trams or noise reduction thanks to automatic track lubrication.
The Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the Czech Technical University, the European Union Agency for Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GSA), the Ministry of Transport and the City of Prague are cooperating on the project with the Prague Transport Company.
