The idea of using 3D printers for the production of protective equipment at the Faculty of Transportation Technology of the Czech Technical University was born on 30 March and within one week, the faculty tuned both production and distribution. Protective shields and respirators with a replaceable filter are created in the faculty laboratories.

The proposed solution of the Faculty of Transportation Sciences of the CTU is based both on available technical documentation, but mainly on own experience and demand from addressed healthcare facilities and other exposed workplaces.

The faculty also takes care of the distribution of manufactured protective equipment. The team involved in this activity is composed of students and academics of the Faculty of Transportation Technology of the Czech Technical University and all costs associated with this activity are covered by faculty resources.

The first delivery was made to Teplice Hospital and several general practitioners. At the moment, the faculty registers orders from LDN and general, dental and pediatrician surgeries in locations throughout the Czech Republic. With regard to the development of the situation, the faculty plans to produce hundreds of pieces per week, but the production is limited mainly by the availability of some necessary parts. Orders for protective equipment can be sent to: 3Dpomucky@fd.cvut.cz

Detailed technical and technological procedures will be posted on the faculty website in the course of following days: www.fd.cvut.cz
