Scientists' Night will be held on 27 September from 17:00 to 22:00 this year. Seven of the eight faculties of the CTU are participating, as well as the Czech Institute of Informatics, Robotics and Cybernetics (CIIRC), the University Centre for Energy Efficient Buildings (UCEEB) and the Central Library, and the University Rector's Office has prepared a competition for small prizes.
Faculty of Civil Engineering (FSv), Faculty of Mechanical Engineering (FS), Faculty of Electrical Engineering (FEL), Faculty of Information Technology (FIT) and the CIIRC will welcome visitors in Dejvice; Faculty of Biomedical Engineering (FBMI) in Kladno will also present its exhibits at the Rector's Office of CTU.
In Prague's New Town, a programme will be prepared at Faculty of Mechanical Engineering (Karlovo náměstí) and Faculty of Transportation Sciences (Horská Street, where the CTU Central Library will also be presented). The Old Town will be visited by those interested in Faculty of Nuclear Sciences and Physical Engineering (Břehová Street)(FJFI). The Nuclear faculty and transport faculty have also prepared lectures and demonstrations at their branches in Děčín. The university's newcomer to the Night of Scientists, UCEEB, will present not only the transformations of sustainability in its Buštěhrad building.
The transformations that visitors will be able to look forward to are very wide ranging. Come and delve into the mysteries of medieval architecture through 3D models and discover what Gothic buildings may have graced Prague but remained only on paper (FSv). See usable waste products or rockets and planes (FS). In the cloud chamber, the invisible will be transformed into the visible before your eyes and you will be able to touch the student racing eFormula car (FEL). You'll need to register in advance for a tour of a unique facility that could transform the entire field of energy - the Golem Fusion Reactor (FJFI).
You can fly on the A320 flight simulator, experience the feelings of a truck driver and try piloting a drone (FD) in protective cages. What it's like to be old, a special suit simulating movement difficulties or glasses simulating optical defects (FBMI) will give you a taste. There will be no shortage of trips to the virtual world or the opportunity to play computer games developed by students (FIT). Based on your voice commands, the robot will bring you the desired objects from the table, and in the Robobar you can enjoy a drink, which is again poured by the robot (CIIRC). At CIIRC, you will also see how water can be extracted from the air, how to make green gardens out of rooftops, or how different temperatures and lighting change human perception (UCEEB). You will turn into a time and spacetime traveller and collect materials for your own book, which you will then make yourself in the workshop (ÚK).
