"The selection of the honorees is strongly influenced by things I consider important in society - whether it is art, knowledge, values politics, philanthropy or extraordinary professional achievements in fields that are not the subject of much media attention but move our society forward. Above all, I would like to thank all of the honorees for their contributions to our community. Each of them has contributed to making life in the Czech Republic better, more beautiful, or to moving us forward in some way," said Petr Fiala during the ceremony at Kramářova Villa.

The Prime Minister decided to award the medals, named after the first Czechoslovak Prime Minister Karel Kramář, on the occasion of the Day of the Struggle for Freedom and Democracy and International Student Day on 17 November.  The ceremony had to be postponed to 7 December due to ill health.
