The Faculty of Architecture invites the public to an exhibition of student projects. The results of the work of more than 1000 students from 67 studios and three programmes will be presented: Architecture and Urban Planning, Landscape Architecture and Design. Doors of the studios in the building of the Faculty of Architecture open till 5. 6.

The exhibition is a diverse probe into teaching, thanks to educators – prominent personalities in the field, as well as a comprehensive view of trends and approaches to design. Students dealt with themes that resonate in contemporary Czech architecture and design.

Such an assignment was the exhibition pavilion for the Slavonic Epic, a theme for students of the Chalupa studio. The location of the monumental work by Alfons Mucha has been discussed for years, yet there is no consensus among the professional public or political representation on the location and form of the exhibition hall. “Alfons Mucha himself imagined a 'hall into a semicircle, without all the expense of building, which would be enough to give shelter against the weather and of course as fireproof as possible' and he proposes a place 'somewhere on Petřín',” says the studio head Ing. arch. Marek Chalupa. In their projects, the students verified a total of five locations in Prague where the exhibition hall could stand.

How to plan and gently build a public space was adressed by students of landscape architecture in the Trevisan studio, who designed adaptations of the surroundings of the Faculty of Humanities of Charles University in Libeň, Prague. The assignment was to create a lively university campus, which will become an organic part of the city and a new center of academic life. Students worked with the connection of the place to the Vltava River and its historical footprint, as well as with biodiversity and nature conservation. "In the project I connect the Faculty of Humanities and the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, which are located on the campus. A student park with a main direct alley is created, which connects the campuses of both faculties. The environment of greenery with a water element invites to meet and establish a natural dialogue between students of different disciplines," Viktorie Fedrselová describes her concept.

While some students were checking out real-life assignments, others were thinking in terms of concepts and visions. The theme of the Florián studio was the creation of a virtual house for the metaverse – a universal virtual world without any physical limits. “My project explores the scale and especially the extremes of what places inhabited by people can look like in virtual reality – from the very personal to the complete erasure of individuality – the limits and limits of human and non-human being and their convergence,” student Kristina Vorobyeva describes the studio project.

The task for the future designers in the Jaroš studio was to create a set of home-made electric tools with a stylishly unifying friendly morphology, welcoming colours and functional ergonomics. “The aim was, with regard to advancing technologies, to shift the perception of the established typology of the tools and to give them new contexts and visions,” says the head of the MgA studio, Jan Jaroš. Veronika Válková designed the ORTHO - a combination of drill and screwdriver. Thanks to the circular spirit levels, drilling is always perpendicular to the object. The sliding ruler on the top is removable, so it can be used for small measurements or for indication of how deep one should drill.
