The Industra Contemporary Art Gallery in Brno will be transformed into a unique sound space where contemporary art meets state-of-the-art technology. The exhibition by Vojtěch Leischner and Pavel Husa, doctoral students at Faculty of Electrical Engineering of Czech Technical University in Prague, will present an installation that combines spatial sound, flock simulation and artificial intelligence. The opening will take place on 24 July at 18:00., and the exhibition will run until 22 August 2025.

The installation, entitled Flying Over a Latent Nest: AI Soundscape, allows visitors to enter a "virtual flock of birds" created by sound tracks generated by a neural network. Using spatial sound and artificial intelligence, thoughts about the future of AI literally fly around the viewer—some of them coming from the visitors themselves. The installation thus serves not only as an artistic experience, but also as a research tool.

"When you step in to the space, the microphone asks you a question about the future of AI—and you answer. Your answer then becomes input for a neural network, which generates two opposing predictions: a positive and a negative scenario. These then circle the space around you as sound fragments. This swarm of ideas thus illustrates the current uncertainty and diversity of opinions on the rapid development of AI," explains Vojtěch Leischner, who works on spatial sound and interaction between humans and artificial intelligence at the Department of Computer Graphics and Interaction at Faculty of Electrical Engineering. Pavel Husa, a doctoral student from the same department, is his collaborator on a research project that combines his experience in data collection and work with AI trends.

Technically, the concept of the exhibition is based on a unique combination of proprietary spatial sound software, wireless sound systems, and collective behavior simulation. The system enables dynamic sound control in a multi-channel space (in this case using eight speakers) and is the result of several years of research carried out at the faculty in collaboration with Tamlab in Linz and HTW in Dresden.

The exhibition is the first public presentation of this system outside of an academic setting. The results gathered from interactions with visitors will serve as a basis for further research, including understanding social attitudes toward the development of AI.

The responses obtained will be anonymized, converted into text and synthetic voice form, and then analyzed. The authors want to use the results to create a map of opinion trends on AI – a kind of "vox populi" captured in artistic language. The exhibition thus functions not only as an experience, but also as a live data collection that combines emotions, technology, and reflections on the digital future.
