The CTU Masaryk Institute of Advanced Studies is preparing the next edition of Automotive Day 2024, which will take place on Prague's Technická Street on Wednesday 10 April 2024 from 9:30 to 16:30, in front of the National Technical Library.
Representatives of fourteen leading car manufacturers and importers will present over thirty models of electric and hybrid cars. The traditional participants of the event, such as Hyundai, Skoda, KIA, Toyota and Citroen will be joined this year by VW Group, Peugeot, BMW, Toyota's luxury car manufacturing division - Lexus and last but not least the technological pioneer, Tesla.
As in previous years, part of the exhibition will be stationary, where attractive models will be displayed, such as the multifunctional VW ID. buzz, the hydrogen electric car Toyota Mirai and new product lines of all participating brands. In addition to the top models, the recently introduced Tatra hydrogen-powered truck and a prototype formula car made by CTU students will also be on display. In addition, a number of models will be available for test drives throughout the day.
The patronage of Automotive Day was again taken over by the Rector of CTU doc. RNDr. Vojtěch Petráček, CSc., who will officially launch the event at 10:00. The project is also supported by the Mayor of Prague 6 Mgr. Ondřej Kolář, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic, the Association of the Automotive Industry (AutoSAP), the Association of Automobile Importers (SDA). Long-term cooperation continues with the Czech representation of the association of technical universities EuroTeQ.
During the accompanying conference on Contemporary Market Challenges of the Automotive Industry, which will take place this year at the nearby Faculty of Civil Engineering in lecture room C223, there will be contributions by experts on current topics - electromobility and other alternative drives, car power systems and increasing demands on infrastructure, AI in Automotive or autonomous driving systems. Automakers will also present their strategies for the near future.
Automotive Day is a project that was created in 2022, originally only in collaboration with Hyundai's national distributor, where student interest in this type of event was confirmed. The number of exhibitors increased to five the following year and this year, an additional nine exhibitors were added. Ing. Oldřich Bronec, CSc., stands behind the idea and organisation of the event, who teaches courses focused on on the automotive industry the Masaryk Institute of Advanced Studies and within his field has long been striving to to promote and interdisciplinary link of theoretical teaching with practical environment of manufacturers and imports of the Automotive industry. Bronec comments this year´s eddition. Furthermore, he adds: "Whether we like it or not, electromobility is an integral part of the energy mix of the future. It will make a significant contribution to the environmental impact of transport and at CTU it is a topic we will continue to focus on."
The event is intended for students, academics, but also for the general and professional public. It is a unique opportunity to get an overview of the current situation in the rapidly developing sector of ecological mobility, to compare and see the current product range of electric cars and, in addition, to try some of them for free.
