The Open Day to be held at the Faculty of Civil Engineering of CTU in Prague on Saturday, January 28th will provide applicants with information about the entrance procedure, the entrance examinations, opportunities to take preparatory courses, and about each of the bachelor study programmes. There will be a chance to ask questions, a number of visits to laboratories, and guided tours of the faculty. Those interested will also be able to try out the whole entrance examination in mathematics on the spot. A programme will also be prepared for visitors from the general public - there will be a guided tour of the Technical Monuments of the Labe-Vltava Waterway exhibition.

The Open Day at the Faculty of Civil Engineering of CTU in Prague will take place from 9 a.m. Introductory presentations of the bachelor study programmes will be from 9.30 until  10.30. At that time, potential students who are not able to make their way to Dejvice for the Open Day will be able to watch the proceedings live on stavarna.online. They will also be able to see many of the faculty’s buildings, spaces and facilities on stavarna.online and listen to pre-recorded conversations with academics.

In the introductory presentations, applicants to study at the faculty will find out about the topics studied in each of the bachelor study programmes – Structural Engineering. Architecture and Civil Engineering, Geodesy and Cartography, and Management and Economics in Construction, Building and Civil Engineering – and the differences  between  these programmes.  

Details will also be available about the newly-prepared three-year professionally-oriented bachelor programme in Scenic Technology, in which three faculties of the Czech Technical Univerity in Prague will be collaborating – the Faculty of Civil Engineering, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, and the Faculty of Electrical Engineering. Graduates from this programme will have learned about present-day multimedia technologies in connection with their application in artistic creation, sound and light design, with special reference to stage, television and film.

In the second part of the Open Day, participants will be able to choose between the stand with information about the entrance procedures, the entrance examination in mathematics and architecture, and find out about each of the bachelor study programmes, study abroad and studies in foreign languages. They can also take a look at the faculty’s buildings and spaces in guided tours, for example, of the Water Management Experimental Centre, where they can see a model of a fish crossing passage. They can also visit the Experimental Centre, the Membrane Architecture Studio, the TZB Technical Equipment of Buildings teaching and demonstration laboratory, and other spaces.

Prospective students can also try out on the spot how well they would do in the entrance examination in mathematics. The on-the-spot entrance examination will begin at 3.00 p.m., and participants will have 70 minutes for the test. Afterwards they can find out not only their points score, but also about the best ways to have solved the test items. The participants will not only test their preparedness, but will also get used to the environment in which they will take the entrance test, and will find out how the test is set up.

A programme has also been prepared  for the general public. There will be a guided tour of the Technical Monuments of the Labe-Vltava Waterway exhibition in the atrium of the  faculty, which presents the history and the present state of this 324-kilometre long waterway. Specialists here provide a detailed exhibition mapping the Vltava waterway from the Slapy dam to Mělník and the Labe waterway from Pardubice to the border with Germany.

The Open Day at the Faculty of Civil Engineering of CTU in Prague, Thákurova 7, Praha 6 – Dejvice will take place on Saturday, January 28th, 2023 from 9.00 a.m. until 2 p.m. The on-the-spot entrance examination in mathematics will begin at 3.00 p.m. Participants in the examination must register.
