Registrations have been launched for the conference organized in Prague from 25 to 28 August 2021 by the European Association for Architectural Education (EAAE) and the Faculty of Architecture. The event with the theme of education of architects, urban planners and landscape architects will take place in a hybrid form.

The EAAE (European Association for Architectural Education) is an international organization that brings together over 130 European schools of architecture. Its mission is to improve the quality of architectural education and the common architectural policy in Europe and to promote discussion and exchange of information in the field of architectural education and research.

The conference entitled New Dimensions is organized by the Faculty of Architecture, prepared jointly with the Faculty of Arts and Architecture of the Technical University in Liberec, the Faculty of Architecture of the Brno University of Technology and ARCHIP.

The topic will focus mainly on the reflection of scaling up and the intertwining of disciplines in practice and education. "We are on the threshold of a new dimension of our profession, when the scale of our interventions and influences on the environment is increasing and it is necessary to look at our work and education more comprehensively, in terms of intertwining disciplines," Ladislav Lábus presents the thesis of the conference.

The conference will be attended by approximately 150 guests from European schools providing education in the field of architecture, who will discuss the following key topics:

  • The role of the architect: how new dimensions of environmental and social problems affect our understanding of the role of the architect in society and the design process,
  • The principle of universality: how can the principle of universality of architectural education be maintained in the context of the growing complexity of our society,
  • Overlapping professions: how architectural education in an environment of overlapping professions should prepare students for new dimensions of our profession.

The conference is planned as a hybrid, some participants will be physically present and some will connect online via an event platform. "EAAE conferences have a long tradition as a platform for critical debate as well as for meeting and establishing important international contacts. We are all looking forward to a physical meeting with colleagues from European schools. Thanks to the hybrid version, guests who are not allowed to travel will be able to participate, "explains the chairman of the organizing committee and a member of the EAAE board of directors doc. Dalibor Hlaváček.

Registration takes place on the conference website under this link. Early registration ends on 13 June. A distinction is made between full-time and online participation, a preferential fee is for participants from schools that are members of the EAAE. Students can attend the conference online for free, in person for a symbolic entrance fee. The fee includes complete participation materials, admission to the conference and refreshments.

The course of the conference will be governed by the current epidemic measures of the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic and other possible regulations valid for CTU. Complete information, including a detailed program and accompanying activities, is available on the conference website.
