From 5 August to 15 November, visitors of the National Technical Museum in Prague have chance to see the exposition “Dams as cultural heritage in flood protection”. Co-author and curator of the exhibition is Ing. Martin Mountain, Ph.D. of the Department of Hydraulic Engineering at Faculty of Civil Engineering.

The exhibition presents the history of the construction of dams and reservoirs with flood protection effect and documents water works from the 14th century until almost the present day on the territory of today's Czech Republic. About 40 dams in the Czech Republic with flood protection effect are mapped, which now constitute a cultural heritage reference. Additionaly, results of related research project, which is a framework for the exhibition, are presented at the exhibition.

The exposition “Dams as link to cultural heritage in flood protection” project was supported by NAKI DF11P01OVV009 “Methodology and tools in preservation and conservation of cultural heritage at risk from flooding”.
