The new clinic builds on the successful collaboration between the two institutions to date and creates a framework for systematically integrating clinical practice with teaching, research and technological development. Its aim is to advance the field of diagnostic and interventional radiology within the context of modern medicine and biomedical engineering, and to respond to the growing importance of imaging techniques in healthcare.
The clinic will provide both practical and theoretical teaching for students on accredited degree programmes at the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering (FBMI) of the Czech Technical University in Prague (ČVUT), in particular the Radiology Assistance degree programme. Students will have the opportunity to gain direct experience of modern diagnostic technologies and the day-to-day running of a healthcare facility. The clinic’s activities will also include supervising degree theses, supporting doctoral studies and developing lifelong learning opportunities for healthcare professionals.
A key part of the clinic’s activities will be scientific research focusing on imaging methods, the processing of medical image data, the use of artificial intelligence in diagnostics, radiation protection issues and the integration of modern technologies into clinical practice. The clinic will actively participate in national and international research projects and develop collaboration with academic, healthcare and industrial partners.
In the field of healthcare, the clinic will provide specialist radiodiagnostic services, including conventional radiology, ultrasound diagnostics, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging and interventional radiology. Emphasis will be placed on the quality of care provided, the safety of patients and staff, and the use of state-of-the-art diagnostic procedures.
The long-term ambition of the Department of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology at the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering, Czech Technical University in Prague, and the Military University Hospital is to become a respected national academic and clinical centre in the field of imaging techniques, which will make a significant contribution to the development of education, science and healthcare in the Czech Republic.
