CTU in Prague hosted part of the program for the opening meeting of the new season of the "Díky, že můžem" Academy. Eighty-eight secondary school students from 75 schools across the Czech Republic took part in the September weekend event, held under the theme "Do You Know Your Direction?"

The "Díky, že můžem" (Thanks for the Freedom) Academy is a year-long educational and development program designed for young people. Throughout the year, participants focus on personal growth, active citizenship, critical thinking, collaboration, and the preparation of their own projects. The first meeting of the new cohort focused primarily on self-discovery, identifying personal strengths, and exploring future directions.

Part of the program took place at the CTU Faculty of Civil Engineering, where students were welcomed by Vice-Dean Zuzana Pešková. Karolína Zapletalová and Lukáš Novotný from the student association ZaČVUTění also shared their experiences, introducing student life and opportunities for getting involved in university activities.

Another part of the program was hosted by the CTU Masaryk Institute of Advanced Studies, where participants met with its director, Vladimíra Dvořáková.

For the high school students, the Academy’s introductory meeting was thus not only an opportunity to reflect on their future paths but also a chance to get to know the university environment and meet representatives of the CTU academic and student communities.
