The CTU Race Day kicks off on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, once again featuring a program packed with speed and technical innovations. The EFORCE Prague Formula team will showcase its autonomous electric formula car in action. An electric motorcycle from the CTU Lions workshop will also zip around the track, and the Green Gliders team will present their highly energy-efficient electric formula car. The event will take place on the Dejvice campus between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m.

During Race Day, visitors can look forward to both dynamic demonstrations by CTU teams and static presentations, where they can chat with students about all aspects of developing race cars and motorcycles. The teams will be available for media interviews starting at 10:00 a.m.

EFORCE Prague Formula—comprising primarily students from the CTU Faculty of Electrical Engineering (FEE) and the CTU Faculty of Mechanical Engineering (FME)—will showcase its latest autonomous electric formula car, the CTU.26, on the track. In September, the team won both the autonomous and combined categories at Formula Student Italy with this vehicle, and also secured gold in the driverless category at the Formula Student Spain competition in August. "In the driver-operated category, our greatest success was in Autocross, which we won in both Italy and Germany," noted team member Vít Eichler, who is studying Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, and Management at the FEE.

The team, currently numbering around one hundred members, will also use Race Day to recruit new members and explain what working in the team entails. "For next year, we are planning a completely new car concept; the design phase for this actually began last year alongside the CTU.26 project," Vít Eichler pointed out. "This means that, for the first time in the team's history, we were working on two cars simultaneously. Consequently, the upcoming season will feature a new monocoque shape, a new battery pack, a new aero package, air cooling for all motors, and much more," the student said, describing the plans.

EFORCE Prague Formula is the most successful student formula team in the Czech Republic. In the rankings of 484 university teams from around the world, EFORCE moved up from 17th to 12th place this year—the best result in its history.

A Pivotal Race for the Green Gliders

"The CTU Race Day 2026 is an opportunity to showcase the talent and dedication of our faculty student teams, such as CTU Lions and Green Gliders. These projects not only develop students' technical and organizational skills but also deliver innovative solutions that boost the prestige of CTU as a whole and foster industry collaboration," said Assoc. Prof. Stanislav Novotný, Dean of the Faculty of Transportation Sciences at CTU, regarding the event.

The Green Gliders student team, which develops highly energy-efficient vehicles, will be participating in the Race Day for the second time. "We are preparing to present our specialized race car, the Glider Model 2, which was built from scratch for the 2026 season. There will certainly be a static display, and weather permitting, we will also include dynamic demonstrations featuring last year's race car," said Ing. Michal Cenkner, a PhD student at the Department of Transport Vehicles at the CTU Faculty of Transportation Sciences, speaking on behalf of the team.

Ing. Cenkner described this year's racing season as a breakthrough. "We successfully competed in the year's main race, the Shell Eco-marathon 2026 at the Silesia Ring in Poland. At the same time, our efficiency result—achieving a final range of 528 km/kWh—represented a massive improvement for us and placed us among the top teams in Europe," Ing. Cenkner explained. Compared to last year's debut, the team more than tripled its performance, securing 12th place out of 120 entries. Michal Cenkner noted that the plan for next year is clear: to cover 1,000 km on 1 kWh, or at least come close to that milestone. "At the same time, we are planning major vehicle modifications, improvements to our racing strategy, the finalization of our fuel-efficiency driving simulator, and team expansion. We would welcome enthusiastic electrical engineers or skilled mechanical engineers looking to broaden their experience within a racing team. In general, however, we appreciate anyone interested in our project," emphasized Ing. Cenkner.

The fastest motorcycle on the scene

Motorcycle enthusiasts will also find plenty to enjoy at the Dejvice campus. "We are excited to finally unveil our latest racing motorcycle, the CTU Lions EVO 4.0 Electric! It is the fastest bike we have built to date, and we are proud of the excellent results we’ve achieved," said Ing. Vojtěch Thums, Team Leader of CTU Lions and a PhD student at the Department of Transport Vehicles, Faculty of Transportation Sciences, CTU.

The CTU Lions' racing season concluded last October. "Back then, we secured an impressive 7th place overall in the racing segment of the MotoStudent competition at the MotorLand Aragón circuit in Spain! This remains our best result to date with our motorcycles in the MotoStudent competition, achieved despite the ever-increasing level of competition. Only teams from Spain and Italy finished ahead of us, but even they are now within reach. We hope to build on this success next year and climb a few more places up the rankings," stated Ing. Thums. He added that, alongside their latest model, the team would also showcase two older motorcycles from the "gasoline era" during the Race Day event. The CTU Lions team comprises members from the Faculty of Transportation Sciences, the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, and the Faculty of Nuclear Sciences and Physical Engineering at CTU, as well as the Masaryk Institute of Advanced Studies at CTU.
