Sintija has had several interesting work stops. From startup studios Creative Dock and CEAI to the WeWork Labs acceleration program to the United Founders venture capital fund. In the last year, she has been involved in the search for and evaluation of investment opportunities in the field of technology startups.
“Investors today are increasingly looking for technologies with great potential and a strong competitive advantage – that is, those that are not easy to copy. In areas such as AI, robotics, chips or biotech, breakthrough innovations often no longer arise in a garage, but in research laboratories and at universities. When we look at the functioning of universities in Munich, Zurich or Cambridge, it is clear that the potential of Czech universities remains largely unused. Yet it is in Dejvice that we have all the prerequisites to build a top center of technological entrepreneurship.” Sintija Meissner explains why she accepted the offer of Vice-Rector Jakub Nešetřil. “We have a strong team and the support of the university management. Now we have the opportunity to make a change that can have a long-term impact.”
The priorities of the new head of transfer and entrepreneurship at CTU include connecting researchers, startup founders and investors and creating an environment in which new technology companies can emerge more naturally and faster. The strategy is to include a new space for future founders.
“What worked great at WeWork was that startups in different stages worked side by side. Some only had a prototype, others had their first customers and others had already completed an investment round. Experience was not only shared in workshops, but mainly by people sharing a space, meeting for coffee or going to lunch together. When talented people meet regularly like this, everything speeds up significantly,” adds Sintija Meissner.
