The University Center for Energy-Efficient Buildings of the Czech Technical University (UCEEB) and the National Network of Healthy Cities of the Czech Republic (NSZM ČR) have signed a memorandum of cooperation aimed at supporting health, quality of life and sustainable development in cities, municipalities and regions of the Czech Republic.

The partnership will connect UCEEB's research know-how in the field of quality and sustainable construction, urban and municipal energy and environmental quality with an extensive network of 150 cities, municipalities and regions in the Czech Republic involved in the WHO's international Healthy Cities program. The aim of the cooperation is primarily to share expert knowledge, provide information to cities, municipalities and the public, and jointly present topics related to sustainable development and a healthy living environment.

"Collaboration with the National Network of Healthy Cities will allow us to bring research results even closer to practice. Cities today are dealing with energy, environmental quality and climate adaptation and need reliable data and innovative solutions. With this memorandum, we are deepening the transfer of know-how from applied research to cities, which was initiated by the CESMOD project, supported by the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic," says Robert Jára, Director of UCEEB CTU.

“Connecting municipalities with research institutions is key to long-term improvement of the quality of life of residents. The partnership with UCEEB brings our members access to current knowledge and specific solutions for the development of cities and municipalities,” adds Petr Švec, Director of the National Council of Community and Local Government of the Czech Republic.

UCEEB has long-term cooperation with municipalities, for example in the preparation of construction projects for buildings or spaces, in the creation of energy concepts, in the planning of territorial development or in the implementation of innovative and energy-efficient solutions. The National Network of Healthy Cities of the Czech Republic, which has been associating cities, municipalities and regions striving to improve the quality of life of their residents for more than 30 years, will provide a platform for sharing these experiences and their wider application in practice.

The memorandum is concluded for an indefinite period and also includes strengthening cooperation on professional national and international projects.
