Traditional European automakers and new players from Asia gathered in one place, and hundreds of test drives took place. Brands represented included Alfa Romeo, Alpine, Chery, Citroën, Fiat, Fiat Professional, Hyundai, Jeep, Kia, Leapmotor, Lexus, MG, Microlino, Opel, Peugeot, Škoda Auto, Toyota, and Volkswagen. Visitors had the opportunity to compare different approaches to mobility—from city cars to commercial vehicles.
The compact Microlino with its retro design and the Alfa Romeo Tonale drew the most interest for test drives. The Alpine A290 electric model also made its debut at the event. The Alpine brand is best known among Formula 1 fans. The Porsche Taycan and MG Cyberster, among others, showcased attractive sports car designs.
“We are very satisfied with this year’s event. A large number of visitors arrived with a genuine interest in electric mobility, and we greatly appreciate that this event allows us to connect directly with the younger generation,” said Jana Vlášková on behalf of Peugeot in the Czech Republic.
This time, Tatra Trucks from Kopřivnice brought a prototype of the fully battery-powered Tatra e-Drive truck to Prague, designed for operation in the harshest conditions. This electric truck demonstrates that electrification is gradually gaining ground in the heavy commercial vehicle segment as well.
A key part of Automotive Day was the technology presentations. Companies such as Valeo, Porsche Engineering, and Entry Engineering gave visitors an insight into the development of modern vehicles, particularly in the areas of sensor technology, software, and semi-autonomous driving. The CTU student formula car was also on display, serving as a great example of the connection between education and practice. This technological segment particularly captivated students from secondary schools and vocational schools specializing in transportation, who regularly visit Automotive Day on field trips.
The Masaryk Institute of Advanced Studies at the Czech Technical University in Prague has long integrated technical education with economic and managerial perspectives. Students participate in projects with companies, complete mandatory internships, and interact with industry experts in the classroom. “Automotive Day is no longer just about cars as products, but about the entire ecosystem surrounding them—from development and infrastructure to new business and educational models,” says organizer Oldřich Bronec, M.Sc., from the Masaryk Institute of Advanced Studies at CTU.
The Automotive Day exhibition has become a well-established event that brings together the academic community, industry professionals, and the general public. The next edition will take place on April 7, 2027.
