Explosia a.s. and the Czech Institute of Informatics, Robotics and Cybernetics, a modern research institute of the Czech Technical University in Prague (CIIRC CTU), today ceremonially signed a memorandum of understanding at CIIRC. The document establishes a basic framework for future cooperation in research, development, and innovation, with a focus on supporting Czech industry.

The aim of the partnership is to create space for expert dialogue and the preparation of cooperation where the top-level academic research of CIIRC CTU intersects with the industrial needs of Explosia, particularly in the areas of advanced robotics, automation, cybernetics, and artificial intelligence. These technologies will be used to optimize processes and increase manufacturing productivity. Another key area is the development of new energetic materials, where artificial intelligence and machine learning will serve as tools to accelerate innovation.

“The memorandum itself does not define specific projects or commitments, but it represents the first step toward the systematic development of cooperation between the two institutions. In the future, the collaboration should focus primarily on joint research and development activities, the application of artificial intelligence and machine learning in manufacturing processes, the design and integration of advanced automation and robotic solutions, issues of cybersecurity, and the monitoring of technological trends in relevant fields,” said Dr. Ondřej Velek, Director of CIIRC CTU.

“By developing this cooperation, we aim to fulfill one of the pillars of our medium-term strategy—namely increasing company productivity through the use of modern technologies and the effective utilization of data across individual departments. CIIRC CTU has extensive experience in this area and will help us strengthen our competitiveness in the future,” said Tomáš Rubáček, MBA, CEO of Explosia a.s.

The concluded agreement is long-term in nature and represents a significant step toward strengthening cooperation between a state-owned enterprise and a public institution with the goal of developing innovation in the very traditional field of the defense industry. The signing of the memorandum confirms the shared interest of both parties in creating conditions for the use of scientific know-how to support technological development and the competitiveness of Czech industry.
