The exhibition, initiated by Ukrainian students in Toronto and later showcased in multiple countries including Canada, the United States, Ukraine, and several EU states, has now reached Prague’s central student hub at NTK. Its mission is to honor the memory of the fallen students and raise awareness within the Czech and international academic community about the ongoing impact of the war on Ukrainian youth. The event opened with welcoming remarks and acknowledgements from the hosting institutions. Among the speakers were Milan Mikuláštík, Curator of the NTK Gallery, and Ing. Radek Holý, Ph.D., Vice-Rector for Quality Management at CTU.
Speakers emphasized the value of education as a universal human right and expressed solidarity with Ukraine and its academic community during wartime.
A special segment of the program gave the floor to four Ukrainian students currently studying in Prague and actively involved in community initiatives:
-
Dmytro Khursenko, from Sumy, Ukraine, studies CS & AI at CTU, active member of ESN CTU
-
Kateryna Mylovydova, Anglo-American University student from Brovary, Ukraine, active member of Generation for Ukraine
-
Daria Petrushkova, Ukrainian Leadership Academy graduate, currently studies BA at VŠE, from Voznesensk, Ukraine, activist and volunteer for Hlas Ukrajiny and Kinovarta
-
Oksana Sydoruk, Ukrainian Leadership Academy graduate, Newton University graduate, from the Volyn region, Ukraine, active member and volunteer for Generation for Ukraine and Kinovarta
Their reflections highlighted the importance of preserving memory, supporting displaced students, and strengthening international academic cooperation. The segment concluded with a Minute of Silence in honor of all Ukrainian students who have lost their lives in the war.
A short musical performance provided an atmosphere of reflection, after which closing remarks invited guests to explore the exhibition in the gallery space. Attendees were also informed about opportunities to support Ukraine and student-led humanitarian initiatives.
The Unissued Diplomas exhibition serves as a reminder of interrupted lives, unfulfilled ambitions, and the human cost of war. Each panel represents a student who dreamed of contributing to their country’s future — a future they never reached.
We were honored to host this exhibition, contributing to continued awareness, solidarity, and support for Ukrainian students and their right to education.
The exhibition remains open to visitors at NTK ground-floor of NTK till January 29, 2026.
