Even without the decision of the mayor of the capital city of Prague or the governors of individual regions, two hundred students from the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering of the Czech Technical University currently help on the front line in medical and social facilities, sampling points or rescue services: future paramedics, physiotherapists, laboratory technicians, radiologists assistants, biomedical technicians or students of security programs.

For example, the future paramedic Tereza Staňková, who now works at the Pneumology Clinic at the Motol University Hospital, adds: “We only approach our patients in protective equipment. We use suits, goggles, a respirator and, through a respirator, a veil, protective face shields and gloves. The shifts last for twelve hours and we serve day and night. It is demanding not only on the psyche, but also physically. Sometimes we go straight from night to school and vice versa. But we try to be optimistic and make it a little happier with our colleagues, and we certainly don't lack a sense of humor. Despite how tough it is, I enjoy the work and it is certainly a very rewarding practice. "

At the Hořovice Hospital, Martin Procházka helps again: “Working in the hospital at the Anesthesiology and resuscitation department, especially at this time, is a great experience for me. I think we all need to help each other, especially at this time of the epidemic. "

CTU student Dominik Pánek works as a paramedic and partly as a paramedic under professional supervision at the ICU and NIP departments at the Náchod Regional Hospital. He remarks on his work: "Help in the ‘covid age’ taught me that it is necessary to adapt very quickly. Situations and conditions can develop quickly and unexpectedly. We then learn a lot of things ‘on the fly’. Due to the growing number of infected paramedics, I had to come and help call almost immediately so that together we could keep the department running. Thanks to this pandemic, as a medical student, I was able to participate in the care of patients I would probably not normally meet, gain valuable experience in practice and also, under the guidance of experienced health professionals, perform the tasks required by this assistance regime. I also know now how important it is to remain calm, to behave responsibly towards myself and those around me, and how to work with the fears and anxieties of others.

The video of Na Homolce Hospital also testifies to the fact that medical facilities are also happy with the help.
