Group of Multirobotic Systems from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering CTU in Prague led by doc. Martin Saska is organizing a workshop on 12th August 2021 as part of the Dronument project, which will focus on autonomous inspection and documentation of historic buildings by unmanned helicopters. The development of the Dronument system is solved by the group in cooperation with the National Monuments Institute, specifically its specialized workplace in Olomouc.

The aim of this multidisciplinary project is to develop a methodology for the safe use of unmanned helicopters in mapping the interiors and exteriors of historic buildings in places where conventional technologies cannot be used. "We use the world's unique technology of very precise control of helicopters, which was developed within the group of Multirobotic Systems operating within the Department of Cybernetics, Faculty of Electrical Engineering CTU for MBZIRC competition in Abu Dhabi, and which proved to be significantly the most reliable and successful of all competition solutions," says doc. . Martin Saska.

The ability to fly very accurately, and therefore safely, is key to the process of documenting parts of historic objects (in the form of photo and video documentation, 3D scanning or eg spectral analysis) that cannot be covered by documentation from the ground or external support infrastructure.

"In addition to the technology of using intelligent drones and groups of intelligent drones in historic buildings, the workshop will also introduce you to the requirements of conservationists who would like to use drones in their work even more than before. The workshop will also include a practical demonstration of the deployment of the system in the CTU premises, "adds Martin Saska.

The workshop will take place physically in Prague on Charles Square and virtually using the ZOOM platform. The language of the meeting will be English, however, for those who prefer a Czech presentation, the organizers will prepare an hour-long summary of lectures in Czech from 12.30 to 1.30 p.m. Details on the content of the workshop can be found on these pages.

The workshop is free and you only need to register by July 30 here.
