The first round of a new competition for high school students called the Energy Olympics was held on 19 October. Altogether, there were 310 teams, of which 298 entered the competition and successfully completed it. The teams were from 94 schools across the country. At the same time, 79 teachers were registered. Teams that have received 24 points and 26 out of a total of 29 teams will compete in the final round, which will be held at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the Czech Technical University, as well as at the National Technical Library on 16 November.

The Olympics are related to various areas such as electromobility, the energy market and electricity trading, energy storage, renewable and other alternative energy sources, smart grids, energy management, energy savings, the future of energy, and much more.

The winners will be awarded with 50,000 CZK, the 2nd team will receive 20,000 CZK and the third best team can look forward to a prize of 10,000 CZK. The finalists will also receive various prizes from the competition's partners and there is a possibility of waiving the entrance examinations at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the Czech Technical University in Prague.

The competition is organized by the company Energetická gramotnost (Energy Literacy Society), which is engaged in energy education. The initiative originally originated as a school project of students of the program Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, Management of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the Czech Technical University in Prague.
