The center operates at the Czech Technical University (CTU) within the Czech Institute of Informatics, Robotics and Cybernetics (CIIRC). The two countries aim to collaborate on research and development and exchange technologies. They will also utilize the CIIRC testbed—an experimental facility linking applied research with industrial practice. The center will support demonstrations of robotic technologies at Czech manufacturing companies.
For Korean robotics companies, the center can serve as a gateway to Europe; conversely, it will provide local companies with access to Korean technologies and potentially open up new avenues for collaboration. "We will create a support system that links the identification of industry needs with the search for suitable technological solutions, their on-site validation, and their subsequent expansion into the European market," says Yeong-Hoon Cho, President of the Korea Institute for Robot Industry Advancement (KIRIA). According to CIIRC Director Ondřej Velek, the strengths of both parties can complement each other. "The goal is not only to jointly develop new technologies but also to test them, gain experience with their use in real-world industrial environments, and create opportunities for their broader application," he states.
Since 2024, the two countries and their research institutions have established a framework for joint R&D collaboration and are also addressing shared infrastructure.
