The entire Kolejní Street project is based on the principles of tactical urbanism – fast, cheap and temporary interventions that test how a space can function for everyday movement, sports, play and meetings. “We have finally transferred something from paper to reality. It takes three seconds to draw something in the program, it took ten times longer to build or paint it,” says Frederik Daňko.
The students also found the immediate feedback from people on site valuable. “A city policeman came to see us and was very happy that he could no longer park here. He said that he used to hand out 20 fines a day – so we made his job a lot easier,” adds one of the three authors.
